The Shalomites, the Temple youth group for grades 8–12, plan, create and lead all of their programs during which they learn about themselves and the world around them. Their activities are social, educational, and religious as well as addressing issues of social action. Shalomites participate on the regional level with the New England Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY-Northeast), and participate with Jewish teenagers throughout the New England area in a variety of programs. A young adult Advisor and an adult Youth Committee help coordinate and supervise Shalomite activities. Some examples of programming on the local level include our annual creative service, ski trip, purim carnival and 4th of July booth. We also participate in social action events, such as the Relay for Life and the Walk for Hunger. Events on the regional level include week-long "institutes" at Camp Eisner, weekend conclavettes, overnight shul-ins, dances and small get-togethers. All 8th-12th graders are invited to participate in Shalomites program. Students do not have to be members of Congregation Shalom. If you have any questions, please contact our Shalomite Advisor.
